Access Services

Access Services is new to SPS2010 and caters for hosting Access databases within SharePoint. It is only available in the Enterprise edition.

The recommended use for this, based on the MSNZ podcast, is where Organisations have lots of Access databases on fileshares or individual users systems that they want to centralise and manage. The users would require Access 2010 client to use the databases stored in SharePoint, but new Web Views can be built in the client to allow Access databases to be accessed via the web UI. This empowers the users to build their own applications as they have done in the past without the need for developers.
